The Commack School District is holding a school board meeting Thursday night with mask mandates being one possible topic up for discussion.
Manisha Ghandi, a mother of two kids in Commack schools, says she thinks masks should be worn. Ghandi says she thinks the district removed the mandate too soon in the spring. That decision only lasted one day before Gov. Andrew Cuomo reinstated the mandate.
Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul, who will be sworn in next week, has said that there is a need for masks.
"I believe that we will need mask mandates for children to go back to schools," says Hochul. "And that will have to be universal, it will have to be statewide."
Commack has not released any plans on mask mandates yet but that could potentially happen tonight.
